Be confused, it’s where you begin to learn new things.
Be broken, it’s where you begin to heal.
Be frustrated, it’s where you start to make more authentic decisions.
Be sad, because if we are brave enough we can hear our hearts wisdom through it.
Be whatever you are right now. No more hiding. You are worthy, always.
Having been both client and counsellor, I am passionate about making counselling and psychotherapy accessible to everyone as I believe that everyone has the right to be heard and understood. Several years ago I realised that I wanted to work with people more relationally and collaboratively so began to train as a counsellor. I have a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and describe myself as a person-centred counsellor with an integrated approach. This means that I believe, given the right conditions, we are all able to achieve growth.
I have a private practice which is based in Staffordshire Moorlands and I offer face to face, telephone and online support to adults. Previously, I spent five years working at savana helping clients with shame, domestic and sexual abuse, anxiety and PTSD. This followed volunteering for the Samaritans and Douglas Macmillan. I am presently working with young adults at a local 6th form college. Which has given me experience of working with a wide range of adults and the challenges that they face. I find that the impact of one experience is often intertwined with another and so, I avoid working with labels and instead focus on experiences and emotions as they present themselves.

Sometimes we get to a point in our lives where things happen or creep up and we literally do not know where to go, who to talk to and how we can make things better. It is a very big decision to start counselling. It is talking about things that make you feel sad, lonely, depressed, anxious, angry, confused etc. and sometimes it’s talking about things that seem that long ago, it is not worth dragging it back up again. When in reality, it has always been there affecting your life in some way, you might not have recognised it. Counselling is a safe place where you can talk to someone who does not know you. This can make it easier because the counsellor has no emotional attachment to your life, and will not judge you or tell you how you should be living.
I believe that the way we ‘click’ is integral to the success of our work and so I strive to nurture our relationship using warmth and empathy. If you would like to find out more, please contact me using the contact information below. I will be happy to arrange a FREE, 30-40 minute introductory session to explore what you would like from counselling and to discuss how we might achieve it. If I seem the right fit for you, we can then make a schedule to suit your pace and budget.
